Tok Sen Training
18 CEUs with NCBTMB
Description:
Tok sen--"tapping the sen"--is a method used in Thai bodywork. A wooden mallet is used to rap against various wooden wedges held against the tissue, which gently stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system and release tension as techniques are applied to the sen lines, acupressure points, and areas of tightness and congestion in the body. It is also beneficial to the lymphatic system.
Tok sen can be used as the central element of a bodywork session or combined with other massage and bodywork techniques such as passive stretching, tissue manipulation, and energy work. The deep vibration and rhythmic tapping of the tools improve the energetic, emotional, and physical wellbeing of the receiver.
In this class, Jenn will introduce you to the modality in its Thai medicine context, and also teach you how smoothly it integrates into whatever style of bodywork or massage you already offer; it is a key component in her sports and recovery massages and manual lymphatic drainage work, in addition to Thai yoga bodywork sessions done on the mat.
Your materials fee covers your own set of tok sen tools to take home. One style of tools comes directly from Thailand, where they were blessed by Jenn's teacher, master Pichest Boonthumme, in his home temple and were selected and sent directly to Jenn before Master Pichest's death. The other style of tools were made by Jenn's Ukrainian contact, who is a skilled craftstman of wellness tools and specializes in tok sen tools. You will have your choice of which style speaks to you.
